About Me

I’m a mom of two beautiful little boys, a 2-year old and a 4-year old. I live with my husband and 2 dogs in the NW corner of Arkansas, up near the Ozarks. I spin yarn, knit, weave, dye and dabble in rug hooking. When I’m not trying to balance my day job as a graphic designer with the entertainment and care of my kiddos, I’m creating new handspun yarns and Monster needles and hooks for my online store, Yarn Rescue.

So what else can I say? I’m a craft fanatic! If my hands aren’t busy creating something, I’m no good. You want to see someone twitch? Sit me in front of the TV without a project to work on. Oh no. No good, no good at all.

The history of it all?

I am 99.5% self-taught in just about every craft I do. Books are usually the source of my crafty addictions. I’ll see something cool, buy the book or find a tutorial online, then figure it out until I get it right. (or give up until I’m ready to pick it up again.)

I taught myself how to knit at an early age of 8, but never really completed anything until a few years ago. I’d knit just for the love of knitting, (actually I think it was more for the love of yarn) then get interested in another project, and forget about the first one. I guess you’d call me a knitter with ADD.

I taught myself to spin yarn on a CD spindle about 6 years ago, and was hooked from then on out. I now dye, card and spin my yarn on my Lendrum DT wheel. There is enough fiber in this house to insulate a small cabin. I love the colors and textures you can create when spinning your own yarn. And adding fun items like feathers, ribbons, beads, shells, coils, etc…it doesn’t get any better than that. I love to experiment and am already planning my next yarn before I can finish my first.

I also run a little online store, Yarn Rescue, in my spare time where I sell my handspun yarn creations and my handmade Monster Knitting Needles and Crochet Hooks. Please come visit me online at  www.yarnrescue.com!
